"'Mortal Kombat' is back and better than ever in the next evolution of the iconic franchise", the official description states. Developer NetherRealm Studios promises all-new custom character variations to let gamers change existing characters and build their own.

We do know it will have a roster filled with new and returning fighters, and it's based on a new graphics engine "showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment". Accompanying the announcement is a video trailer showing a bloody battle between Raiden and Scorpion and also featuring a brand new 21 Savage song as the soundtrack. Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal will be livestreamed globally at and will feature a keynote presented by NetherRealm Studios.

Mortal Kombat XI will launch on April 23, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
