Finding your favorite tunes just got easier in Android Auto

Last April, 9to5Google got its hands on what would be the new version of Google's Play Store on Android.

Today, Google announced a new update to Android Auto that has a couple of changes centered around making things easier. You now have an improved layout, featuring large album art views, allowing you to quickly identify and select something to play.

The update includes a new message preview feature, an updated media user interface, voice search tweaks, and group messaging. When messages arrive, Android Auto can show you a short preview of the text when your vehicle is stopped. This feature works in Google Play Books, Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, Pocket Casts. Amazon Music has more than two million songs for your listening pleasure, according to the listing, and the TV interface doesn't look too bad, either. In many cases this removes multiple taps from the media search experience, which is critical in the vehicle. First and foremost, the company has improved Android Auto's content search and browsing capabilities in a number of different apps. Perhaps most importantly, Android Auto will also be gaining support for apps that use MMS and RCS, which is definitely an exciting addition.

It's nice to see Google focused on bringing a stellar Auto experience for users, and these updates should make the whole experience better and safer for users. The new messaging features are available in Messages, Hangouts and Whatsapp with the promise of more messaging apps to be added in the "coming months".

If you know what you want to listen to but you're driving and didn't queue up the right playlist, you can use voice. The updates will roll out in the next few days.

Apple gives in, will allow Apple Music on Amazon Echo devices
