Bush returns to Washington for final time

On Monday, George H.W. Bush's faithful service dog Sully made a final journey back to the USA capital with the late president.

Before a visibly moved Bush family and with hands on hearts, members of Bush's Cabinet, lawmakers, the vice president and Supreme Court justices honoured the 41st president as his flag-draped casket entered the soaring Capitol Rotunda for the first official ceremony.

The casket will be accompanied to Joint Base Andrews, outside Washington, by the 43rd president, Bush's son George W Bush; his wife, Laura; his brother Neil Bush and his family.

"I think he was one of the kindest, most generous men", said Marge Frazier, who visited the downtown statue.

Bush died late Friday at age 94.

Family and friends will then gather at the National Cathedral in Washington for an 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump has sent a presidential airplane to Texas to fly Bush's body to Washington.

"Throughout his life of service, President Bush personified grace", he said.

He also shared a photo of him embracing Hegerberg, stating that she told him she understood it was just a joke. In the video he shared, he said, "Guys, I'm a little bit amazed by what I'm reading on the internet".

Sully has his own Instagram account; here he is shown "assisting with voting" as Mr Bush cast his ballot in last month's United States presidential mid-term election.

"I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President George H.W. Bush", Trump said in the statement.

However, the 41st President of the United States' final flights will be given a special distinction, CNN reports.

The Supreme Court is delaying arguments by a day while a national day of mourning is held for former President George H.W. Bush.

More details about Bush's funeral arrangements are posted on a tribute website for the former president.

Bush's death reduces membership in the ex-presidents' club to four: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama. Bush was a pilot in the Navy who served in World War II.

After moving to Texas to work in the oil business, Bush turned his attention to politics in the 1960s.

"It's pretty obvious as people look back, and as people are recollecting the Bush presidency, it looks a heck of a lot better than it did at the end of it", he said.
