National Basketball Association fans react to Sixers' trade for Jimmy Butler

The Sixers and Butler, a four-time All-Star, have every intention on formalizing a long-term agreement this summer, sources said, but nothing is allowed to be negotiated or agreed upon until Butler opts out of the final year of his contract after the season. Butler was reportedly frequently at odds with Timberwolves swingman Andrew Wiggins and especially, standout center Karl-Anthony Towns.

However, most National Basketball Association analysts believed this to be one of the crazier trade transactions due to the way it was unprofessionally handled. We'll update this story as additional information is provided on the deal.

Butler, who after six seasons with the Bulls was traded to the Timberwolves in June 2017, is averaging 21.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season for Minnesota (4-9) despite not being happy with his situation.

That is contingent, of course, on Butler's ability to get along with his younger teammates - something with which he seemed to struggle in Minnesota.

Jo Johnson quits United Kingdom government over 'delusional' Brexit deal
May had been expected to rally her cabinet around her Brexit plan at a meeting originally due this week. The "democratic thing to do is to give the public the final say", he argued.

But according to an ESPN report, Thibodeau eventually came to the conclusion that the Butler drama was indeed too big of a distraction and made a decision to pull the trigger on a deal.

While Robert Covington and Dario Saric are both solid rotational players, neither have true star potential and are averaging 11.3 and 11.1 points per game, respectively.

ESPN later added in that the Wolves would also be sending Justin Patton to Philadelphia as part of the deal.
