James Milner rues missed chances after loss to Red Star

Jürgen Klopp admitted Liverpool struggled to recover from the blow of Red Star Belgrade's first-half goals in the 2-0 Champions League defeat in Serbia.

Klopp said when asked to put a finger on what went wrong: "I only have 10 fingers!" Spurs face an uphill task after taking just four points from their opening four games, while Liverpool's slip-up in Belgrade has left them with plenty of work to do to qualify for the knockout stages.

Instead, it was Pavkov who impressed in front of goal, leaping highest at a corner to head in a right-wing delivery from Marko Marin and put Red Star ahead.

Liverpool legends, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman have blamed goalkeeper, Alisson Becker for the club's 2-0 loss to Belgrade on Tuesday night.

"I think Liverpool underestimated us and consequently paid for that mistake". This season we've found that a bit hard. Last season we were scoring a lot of goals and they were going in and now they're not.

"All over the field, we didn't win the ball back well enough and the passing wasn't good enough".

The striker soon got his second, shrugging off Georginio Wijnaldum and beating Alisson with a fierce 25-yard drive to leave Klopp looking stunned on the touchline.

But It was Red Star marksmen Pavkov who would catch the eye in the Rajko Mitic Stadium.

The Dutchman impressed against United on Saturday despite Bournemouth losing 2-1 to thanks Marcus Rashford's injury-time victor . With 20 points from 10 games, they might even expect to be in the Champions League places at this point in the season.

"We knew this group was going to be tough and it's proving that way". Studge [Sturridge] had a good chance and if that went in it could have been a good night, but we're sitting here talking about a defeat unfortunately. That can't be possible every single game.

A run of bad results in Europe and less convincing performances in the Premier League has led many fans to believe that the departure of Jürgen Klopp's assistant Željko Buvač could be the leading cause behind the drop in form. Because we can do better.

"But yeah, maybe we are missing a bit of a spark in terms of not winning 4-0 or 5-0". We have a long flight home and have enough time to think about it.

But Robertson believes Liverpool can get the job done in Paris on November 28 despite losing their last three away games in Europe's elite competition. There's no hiding that.

"You don't forget about these results quickly", Robertson said.

"It's on us to take responsibility and we need to bounce back in the next two games".

"That's what he's always done".

We need to come together as a team and try to give what the gaffer wants, try to get the spark and try to win games more comfortably.
