High-level US-North Korea meeting postponed without reason

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will meet North Korea's number two Kim Yong-chol in NY on Thursday, the State Department said.

Pompeo said in an interview with CBS Sunday that he expects to make "some real progress" when he meets with his counterpart, including on the potential summit, "where we can make substantial steps towards denuclearization".

Nauert said the United States remained focussed on fulfilling the commitments agreed to by President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at the Singapore summit in June, reported The Washington Post.

The two are expected to discuss "making progress on all four pillars of the Singapore Summit joint statement", said the department spokesperson Heather Nauert in a statement.

In December a year ago, UN Security Council adopted a resolution that imposed tougher sanctions on North Korea after Pyongyang's missile test.

The State Department on Monday announced that Pompeo would travel to NY with Stephen Biegun, the US special representative for North Korea, to meet Kim Yong-chol. It offered no reason, and the North's propaganda services has not mentioned the meeting.

"We're working on finding dates and times and places that will work for each of the two leaders", Pompeo said at the time.

NBA All-Star Draft To Be Televised On TNT
The only problem was the draft wasn't televised, leaving fans curious from the order of selections to who was selected last. However, captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry both agreed after the draft that it should have been shown to the fans.

North Korea has increasingly protested the US -led sanctions on the regime.

"We are going to make it another day", he said.

Similarly, Trump, through a public letter on May 24, canceled his first summit with Kim Jong-un, which was in the works for June 12 in Singapore, blaming "open hostility" in Pyongyang's rhetoric.

That decision came after Kim Yong-chol met with Pompeo in NY in May.

The Democrats regained control of the US House of Representatives, where they will seek to keep Trump's agenda in check, while the Republicans maintained their majority in the Senate in Tuesday's midterm elections. -North Korea negotiations have completely broken down or "lost their momentum" because of the postponement.

After years of self-imposed isolation, and sanctions for its development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, North Korea has this year been trying to build its foreign contacts.

Pompeo was scheduled to attend a top-level U.S.

Instead of following through on that, in recent days North Korea has been criticizing the USA over its sanctions, threatening last Friday to bring back its "byongjin" policy - advancing its nuclear arsenal and economic development at the same time. South Korea's foreign ministry said it was not aware of Ri's visit.
