Dez Bryant signs with Saints - Newswatch

Via multiple reports, Bryant and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a one-year deal that lands the three-time Pro Bowler in New Orleans for the rest of the season.

New Orleans coach Sean Payton acknowledged to reporters on Wednesday that the team had worked out some receivers on Tuesday, including Bryant, but said it wasn't an indictment on the team's other receivers.

But as the Saints set their sites on a Super Bowl run, an upgrade at receiver is a glaring need.

It's unclear what the Saints are looking for in a workout with wide receivers. It's an offense that's all about timing on combination routes, aligning everything so that Brees can either get the ball out quickly to a first or second read, or for Brees to hurl the ball downfield.

Dallas cut Bryant late in the free agent process in April, and he has struggled to find work after dalliances with the New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns failed to pan out.

The Saints were in the market for help at receiver after placing Ted Ginn Jr on injured reserve on October 18.

Dez Bryant could be moving closer to an National Football League return.

The Baltimore Ravens offered Bryant a multi-year deal, but he reportedly wants a one-year, "prove-it" deal. Running back Alvin Kamara (51 catches) and tight end Benjamin Watson (26 catches) rank second and third on the Saints.
