Severino, then Sabathia for Yankees in Games 3, 4

Severino, then Sabathia for Yankees in Games 3, 4

The Yankees put up a good fight down 5-0 in Game 1, so they'll put up a good fight down 1-0 in the series.

Their last playoff series was certainly a memorable one. NY powered its way to a 6-2 victory on a spectacular fall night, one that left a season-high crowd of 39,151 fans skulking their way to the exits.

The Red Sox jumped out to an early lead when J.D. Martinez belted a three-run home run into the Green Monster seats in the bottom of the first inning to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead. Boston has three World Series titles to New York's one over the last 14 years.

The team with the better starter is winning.

The 2018 Major League Baseball season was the greatest in the history of the Red Sox.

I doubt either team will sweep the other, but one thing is for sure: we are in for a close, nail-biting series between the Yankees and Red Sox.

First pitch is set for 7:32 p.m. ET from Fenway Park.

Sale got the outs he needed, but wasn't efficient as he could be.

The Yankees don't have any viable MVP or Cy Young contenders.

Boston is favored over NY with good reason.

Any concerns about Sale - whose shoulder issues forced an unusual routine for him over the final weeks of the season and raised questions about his velocity - were erased nearly immediately. The problem is the left-hander hasn't been at his best for some time.

Susan Collins slams anti-Kavanaugh activists for 'trying to buy votes'
While her vote spurred criticism, Collins was cheered by Republicans including past and former presidents. Saltonstall, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Senator Prescott Bush, Senator Margaret Chase Smith, Rep.

Sale insists his left shoulder is healthy and capable of handling a postseason workload, including pitching on short rest or in relief between starts. He made one start in August, throwing five brilliant innings against the Baltimore Orioles, but went right back on the shelf before returning on September 11.

Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.

Hernan Perez doubled in a run in the fourth inning and Milwaukee added three more runs in the eighth. The next batter, Didi Gregorius, grounded into a fielder's choice that made it 5-2, before a walk of Miguel Andujar ended Brasier's night. The veteran has performed like a surefire Hall of Famer over the course of his career with the exception of two situations: when he's facing the Yankees and when he's pitching in the playoffs.

Homers: Through the first 10 October games, the team that hit the most homers was 6-1, including 5-0 in the postseason (there were three games in which the same number of homers was hit by both teams). Price's postseason struggles are well-documented with his 5.03 ERA in 73.1 playoff innings.

Tanaka allowed just three hits, including Xander Bogaerts' solo homer, before leaving after five innings with a 3-1 lead. "This is the playoffs", said Martinez, who signed with Boston as a free agent in the off-season. Their WHIP was 1.980, and they were averaging 4.34 home runs per nine innings - though they rarely made it into the fifth.

That's not to say the Yankees definitely have a significant advantage in the rotation.

NY should feel confident in giving the ball to Happ in Game 1.

The New York Yankees are drawing boos in some corners of Boston, but not for their bitter rivalry to the Red Sox. Judge had three hits, including the only extra-base hit, and Luke Voit had two singles for NY, which went 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position. He was lights out against them this season, going 1-1 with a 1.99 ERA in four starts. Severino is looking more and more like his old self with a 1.66 ERA in his last four starts.

TOP PERFORMERS: Miguel Andujar has 169 hits for the Yankees this season. Rafael Devers has four home runs and 10 RBIs while slugging.632 over his past 10 games for Boston. New York's bats have gotten hot at the right time, and it could be what ultimately propels them to the ALCS.

Sale wasn't armed with the triple-digit heat that he flashed in July, but he found a way navigate a home-run happy Yankees lineup. Andrew McCutchen has a.421 on-base percentage since being acquired on August 31, and Luke Voit had more home runs than any AL player from August 24 through the end of the regular season. Tonight, from the get-go with McCutchen he was very aggressive in the strike zone, you could see the good extension, repeating his delivery, breaking ball was good, changeup was good, he was outstanding for us. If New York can steal one of the first two games at Fenway Park, the series won't be returning to Boston.
