Israeli forces wound 77 Palestinians at protest near Gaza Strip border

The Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med) said that Israeli forces caused injuries to one in every 100 Palestinians as Gaza protests conclude 200 days and called on the global community to exert serious pressure on Israel to end its targeting of Palestinian demonstrators.

According to the new policy, Palestinian protesters will have to maintain a greater distance from the buffer zone - otherwise, Israeli troops have been ordered to open fire. Pale stinians have launched incendiary balloons and kites into Israel and on occasion breached the Israeli frontier fence.

According to Haaretz, the Security Cabinet convened for five hours late Wednesday after a number of rockets were fired into Israeli territory from Gaza.

An Israeli army spokesman said that most of the protesters stayed back from the fence, but some approached and some threw explosive devices and hand grenades at soldiers while setting tyres on fire.

This did not prevent Housing Minister Yoav Galant, however, from making provocative comments to reporters.

The Gaza Strip has been under a crippling Israeli siege since 2007 and witnessed three wars since 2008.

On its official website, the Brigades posted a brief video showing a Brigades fighter preparing to fire a salvo of rockets into Israeli territory.

Cuba reiterates its strong rejection to the use of disproportionate and indiscriminate force by Israel against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territory, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, in gross and flagrant violation of the UN Charter and global law, ambassador Rodriguez stated. Earlier, Israel halted Qatari fuel shipments to Gaza's power plant.

Around 200 Palestinians have died in weekly riots that have taken place on the border since the end of March. Another 469 IDF soldiers and 261 Israeli civilians were injured.

The Israeli airstrikes and ground campaign to put an end to Palestinian rocket attacks resulted in the death of thousands of people, the vast majority of them Gazans.
