Mariah Carey sang her new song "With You" dressed in a form-fitting pink gown and surrounded by male dancers. A special tribute to Aretha Franklin is included, as is some early promotion for the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. She encouraged everyone to get out and vote this midterm election cycle. "Not just because she's my daughter, but while I was pregnant, I was just so influenced to be like, 'Yo, I gotta do this!' I had to prove people wrong, 'cause they said I wasn't gonna make it after I had a baby".

Swift had announced on Sunday that she was voting for Tennessee's Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen, breaking her long-standing refusal to discuss anything politics.

Taylor Swift, straight off a controversial dive into USA politics, was the big victor at the American Music Awards on Tuesday where she used her platform to again urge her fans to get out and vote.
