Bangladesh hopes Saudi-Turkey joint probe will remove Khashoggi ‘speculations’

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the United States should "sanction the hell out of Saudi Arabia" and slammed the crown prince, known by his initials MBS, as a "toxic" figure. "Answers will be forthcoming shortly". This guy's got to go.

The South Carolina Republican said bin Salman "can never be a world leader on the world stage".

While Pompeo was in his meetings in Saudi Arabia, Trump, in Washington, said on Twitter, "For the record, I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia (or Russian Federation, for that matter)".

But that has now been delayed because no Saudi official can be present for what has been billed as a joint investigation, Turkish officials say.

The close US ally is ruled entirely by the Al Saud monarchy, and all major decisions in the ultraconservative kingdom are made by the royal family.

Pompeo, like President Donald Trump, has put faith in the Saudi royal family to investigate themselves regarding Khashoggi's disappearance.

The Saudi consulate referred Reuters to authorities in Riyadh, who did not respond to questions about the 15 Saudis.

Unnamed Turkish officials told CNN on Tuesday that Khashoggi's body was "cut into pieces" after he was killed at the consular building.

The search of the consulate continued into the early hours of Tuesday.

A rift between Saudi Arabia and the UAE? .

The US State Department said he expressed concern about Khashoggi's disappearance during the meeting and told the Turkish president Washington was willing to help with the investigation. That convention covers diplomatic immunity, as well as the idea that embassies and consulates sit on foreign soil in their host countries. The kingdom also denied an assertion by France that it held Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri captive in November 2017.

Turkey has wanted to search the consulate for days. But its probe faced considerable obstacles: Mr. Erdogan told reporters that the investigators who were finally allowed into the consulate encountered freshly painted walls.

The US chief diplomat was greeted at Riyadh airport by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and ambassador to Washington Prince Khalid bin Salman. The former Central Intelligence Agency chief didn't make any remarks to the media.

The Glazers sold two per cent of the club's shares with limited voting rights in August a year ago, and may be interested in selling more to the Saudis.

If Saudi Arabia does not become more transparent, various consequences will be very heavy for the future of the country. "We face our challenges together", Salman told Pompeo.

Pompeo was to have a dinner Tuesday night with Prince Mohammed and was expected to fly to Turkey on Wednesday.

Trump has threatened the kingdom with "severe punishment" if it is shown that Khashoggi was killed inside its Istanbul mission.

Trump said Monday morning that the king, in a 20-minute phone call, offered him a "flat denial" that the Saudi government was behind Khashoggi's disappearance and possible murder.

The US president gave no evidence to support the theory.

Trump said he didn't "want to get into (Salman's) mind", but he added, "it sounded to me like maybe these could have been rogue killers".

"We haven't made a decision about going yet", Trump said. But he has said repeatedly that he does not want to halt a proposed $110 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia - as some in Congress have said he should - because it would harm the US economically.

"Two weeks is a very long time for the probable scene of a crime not to have been subjected to a full forensic investigation", Ms Bachelet said.
