In order for people who don't have Alzheimer's symptoms to participate in studies, they'll need to be tested for some of the telltale markers of susceptibility to the disease.

The study, published Wednesday in Alzheimer's & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association, was the first to look at race and ethnicity in relation to dementia and its future.

American experts conducted a study and found that the global situation with Alzheimer's in 2006 was approximately 26.6 million patients.

Friday, September 21 marks World Alzheimer's Day, part of World Alzheimer's Month which takes place throughout September.

In the United States, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, the sixth-leading cause of death in America and the only disease among the top ten causes that can not be cured, prevented or even slowed.

Alzheimer's is the fifth most common cause of death in the United States behind heart disease and several cancers. But by 2060, that number will hit almost 14 million, which will then be 3.3 percent of the projected population.

On Wednesday, a team of scientists in the U.S. said they had eliminated dead but toxic cells occurring naturally in the brains of mice created to mimic Alzheimer's and slowed neuron damage and memory loss associated with the disease.

The Austrian also scored the victor when Chelsea made the trip from west to east London last season. This was a truer reflection of where they are as a team.

The number of Americans living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias is set to double by the year 2060.

It is hard to predict just how many people will develop Alzheimer's, the most common cause of dementia.

Hispanic Americans are expected to have the biggest increase due to population growth, but non-Hispanic whites still will have the most Alzheimer's cases, based on population numbers.

African Americans have the highest percentage of Alzheimer's by population, with 13.8 percent of blacks aged 65 or older affected. This is followed by Hispanics, at 12.2 percent; non-Hispanic whites, at 10.3 percent; American Indian and Alaska Natives, at 9.1 percent; and Asian and Pacific Islanders, at 8.4 percent.

Dr Solanki said that the disease reduces person's ability to perform everyday activities which is not problematic for patient but it also disturbs life of other family members.

"It is important for people who think their daily lives are impacted by memory loss to discuss these concerns with a health care provider". "An early assessment and diagnosis is key to planning for their health care needs, including long-term services and supports, as the disease progresses".
