Jimmy Butler Reportedly Requests Trade From Timberwolves

Jimmy Butler #23 of the Minnesota Timberwolves drives to the basket.

He has requested a trade away from Minnesota following a meeting with team president and head coach Tom Thibodeau. However, Wiggins' brother, Nick, posted to Twitter nearly immediately after the trade request was announced with a one word response that tells you everything you need to know about how he feels about Butler's presence on the Wolves (the tweet was deleted after about 30 minutes of being up, but the Internet always keeps receipts). His three preferred destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Butler, who has a player option on his contract next season, has come up with a list of teams that he would like to sign a long-term deal with, according to Krawczynski.

But he said the accusation that surfaced at the tail end of the Supreme Court confirmation process was "hurting somebody's life". Katz told United States media her client had been ambivalent about the pressure that would come with speaking out publicly.

With under a week to go before players report to their respective franchise, a Butler trade could send the start of the National Basketball Association season into a wild place. Butler is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists in Minnesota last season, leading them to the playoffs for the first time since 2004.

The All-NBA's wing's request comes six days before the start of Timberwolves' training camp, and five days before the team's media day, placing the team in a tight spot this late in the offseason.
