Asia Argento Threatens Rose McGowan With A Lawsuit Over ‘Horrendous Lies’

The Italian actress announced Tuesday on Twitter that she will sue her former friend for "deception, fraud, coercion, and libel" and seek "substantial damages" after McGowan ignored Argento's deadline for a public apology.

Almost one month after Rose McGowan claimed that Asia Argento admitted to having a sexual relationship with her accuser, Argento has demanded that McGowan retract her statement - and apologize - or else face legal repercussions. 'It is with genuine regret that I am giving you 24 hours to retract and apologise for the horrendous lies made against me in your statement of August 27th.

The actress said she would be taking legal action against Rose if she didn't immediately rectify the situation.

The accusations against Argento sparked furious debate regarding the #MeToo movement and accountability among its most vocal supporters - including Argento and McGowan, both of whom became prominent figures within the movement after coming forward with sexual misconduct allegations against former film exec Harvey Weinstein. I loved you. You've spent and risked a lot to stand with the MeToo movement.

With the help of Argento's new lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, Argento has accused Bennett of "sexually attacking" her during their encounter, even though Argento's published texts to a friend show that she admitted to the encounter with Bennett and called it "weird".

She spoke of how she'd bonded with Asia over Harvey Weinstein, adding: 'Asia was a person who understood my trauma in a way that many others didn't.

NEO volunteers headed to help Flo victims, more to be sent
A Dubuque woman working with the Red Cross is in Florence, South Carolina making sure supplies are going where they're needed. By Friday evening, Florence was downgraded to a tropical storm, its winds weakening to 70 miles per hour as it pushed inland.

McGowan recounted how her partner, model Rain Dove, told her that Argento had admitted to the tryst with the teen in a text conversation. Be honest. Be fair. Following Argento's threat, McGowan hasn't said anything publicly yet. Let justice stay its course.

Texts and photos, however, tell a different story about the nature of Argento and Bennett's relationship together, one far off from the actress' denial.

"Asia, you were my friend", McGowan wrote.

"It would seem that Asia is implying that her truth is the actual truth because of her perceived position in this all too important movement and a delusional view of her own importance to it", Sattro said. "It wasn't fair and it wasn't right".

Argento responded to McGowan's statement on Twitter, stating that Dove had "accepted she was wrong" and deleted the tweet and that McGowan needed to do the same.

A libel lawsuit against McGowan for that seems like an unusual thing to get hung up on when Argento has much bigger problems.
