'My name's Elba, Idris Elba': Actor responds to James Bond rumors

And now, Idris Elba has responded to reports that a James Bond producer has tipped him to be 007, posting a cryptic tweet.

"Idris has that", was the quote that The Daily Star claimed Fuqua made, and they also stated that Broccoli was responsive to the idea.

Indeed the bets are seemingly off Idris stepping into Bond's shoes (and his Aston Martin) after producer Barbara Broccoli told director Antoine Fuqua she felt the part would "eventually" played by a non-white actor.

Elba remained quiet about the rumors, but did take to his Twitter today and tweet "Don't believe the HYPE".

The actor drove his fans into a frenzy by posting: "my name's Elba, Idris Elba", along with a (super filtered) selfie.

Unai Emery makes two shock selections for first Arsenal game
Arsenal need more from their star man, especially with potent finishers Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette needing quality supply. Thus, he is definitely a huge threat for the Manchester City defence, likely to be led by English global John Stones.

One wrote: "If you're the next Bond, it will be the first Bond film I ever see", while another said "please be 007 dont tease us like this get that contract signed!" "You need a guy with physically strong presence".

Elba, 45, has previously said he thought he might be too old to play the legendary secret agent.

When asked about the reported comments, a spokesperson for Fuqua told CNN, "This is not accurate".

He has shot down the rumours in a good humoured manner of the years - including joking that he isn't handsome enough, stating it's "a compliment" and saying it's all "rumour-ville".

Craig will return for the fifth time as Bond in 2019, in an as yet unnamed movie directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle.
