Massive 8.2 Earthquake Rocks Fiji

Small tsunami waves have been observed but the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected based on available data.

The quake was centred west-southwest of Belanting town in East Lombok, the US Geological Survey said, at a relatively shallow depth of 7km.

"We are monitoring the situation and some places felt it, but it was a very deep quake", director Apete Soro said by telephone.

The last quake on 5 August displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Others think that he’ll continue to use the picks himself and construct a young core that can emerge after the Cavaliers vs. Fultz is an ideal scoring guard to run alongside him, and can also take over point guard duties if the Simmons experiment fails.

But it was less powerful than the deadly quake earlier this month and there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries. "People will feel it but it's so deep that I would not expect any damage", USGS geophysicist Jana Pursley said by telephone.

The epicentre of the quake was located 281 km northeast of the Ndoi Island in Fiji at a depth of 560 kilometres.

"There have been no reports of death or (serious) damage but people are traumatised".

The area is located on the earthquake-prone Ring of Fire.
