Jürgen Klopp gives update on Danny Ings’ possible Liverpool departure

Liverpool FC earned plenty of praise for their performances last season after they ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table and reached the Champions League final.

Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson have all arrived at Anfield.

The former Reds defender told Sky Sports: "Everyone's talking about Liverpool and with good reason".

Like City, Liverpool's strength is in the final third and the trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, will strike fear into Premier League defences again.

Just as Liverpool were threatening to run riot as they did in Saturday's 5-0 rout of Napoli, they were pegged back by a thunderous header from Belotti, which left the world's most expensive goalkeeper Alisson helpless.

Such was his lack of opportunities last term it was expected he would seek alternative opportunities this summer but the Evening Standard understand he will remain on Merseyside, with Liverpool keen on retaining his services.

While Newton seemed initially friendly during the meeting, neither man was smiling as Benjamin started to walk away from him. When Benjamin left Newton hanging, Newton asked for privacy and had an apparent argument with his former teammate.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed one major regret from this summer's transfer window after what looked a very successful preparation for the new season.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will be assessed before a decision is made on whether they are fit to feature against West Ham United.

Jurgen Klopp's side were too clever, quick and powerful for their opponents throughout the game, despite making numerous changes at the break and further substitutions throughout the second half.

Liverpool made Alisson the most expensive goalkeeper in history when they signed him from Roma for £66million.

"We will see what happens".

In the second half at Anfield, midfielders Fabinho - who missed an early penalty - and Marko Grujic both filled in as Van Dijk only played 45 minutes, but Klopp is not anxious ahead of Sunday's visit of West Ham.
