Colorado Mom's Last Comments About Husband Before Her Murder are Heartbreaking

Authorities believe that Shanann Watt's husband, Chris Watts, killed her and the couple's two young daughters. Watts said in televised interviews that she arrived home at around 1am on Monday August 13, claiming that that they two stayed up having an "emotional conversation" until he left at 5.15am.

Authorities are expected to file charges against Mr Watts, who was sacked from his job on Wednesday, the day he was arrested.

The DNA expert, Richard Eikelenboom, said in the filing "that even though the bodies of two of the decedents have been in an oil well filled with crude oil for several days, DNA would still be present".

According to a report in 9News, the suspect's defense attorney James Merson filed a motion seeking DNA evidence from the remains found at Anadarko Petroleum, indicating that Watts is believed to have strangled his wife and two little girls.

The first motion, according to documents, was filed 20 minutes before the autopsies were scheduled to begin. The expert did not recommend and the defense attorney did not request a DNA sample from the mother's neck.

Watts was pregnant at the time, and Saturday was supposed to be "gender reveal" party for their third child.

"You spoil us with love an (d) attention!"

Jeremy says he didn't see something like this from Chris.

Chris, who was arrested Wednesday night before the bodies of his wife and kids were found the next day, remains in custody without body and is accused of first-degree murder and three-counts of tampering with a body. The rest was earned by Shanann Watts, who worked in 2014 at Children's Hospital Colorado.

He is next due in court on Tuesday.

The oil and gas tanks their bodies were reportedly found in had been almost full when the corpses were dumped, according to local media.

So far, authorities have not said how the three were killed, the exact location their bodies were found and the motive behind the killings.

"I'm completely at a loss for words", Ashley Bell told the outlet.

Frankie Rzucek, who identified himself on his Facebook page as the brother of Shanann Watts, posted a message about 10:10 p.m. that read: "That piece of s-- may he rot in hell".

After his family was missing, Mr Watts told reporters he had desperately tried to contact his wife.

Family and friends of Shanann Watts are left searching for answers, trying to reconcile Watts' cheery Facebook posts about her daughters, her pregnancy and her love for her husband with the pending charges. At least we know they have each other's back'. "I just want them to come back".

But he said he became anxious when one of her friends contacted him around noon and said Shanann wasn't responding to messages.

"I walked in the house and - nothing", he said.

Chris and Shanann Watts filed for bankruptcy in June 2015, according to documents in the court record. "She wasn't here. The kids weren't here".

Correction: An earlier version of this article featured on the CNN app used the wrong photo of Shanann Watts.

CNN affiliate KMGH aired video showing Chris Watts' pickup truck being towed from the family's home overnight, as well as investigators removing items from the house in garbage bags.
