Sen. Mark Warner: Vladimir Putin will 'take advantage' of Donald Trump

Donald Trump says he may ask Vladimir Putin during their Monday summit meeting to extradite to the US 12 Russian intelligence officers accused of attempting to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.

In the interview with CBS News, Mr Trump says he's going into the meeting in Finland with "low expectations".

The Helsinki summit is the capstone to a almost week-long trip for Trump during which he has sown doubts about his commitment to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military alliance, Washington's so-called special relationship with Britain, and US relations with the European Union that he called "a foe" in trade terms.

EU Council President Donald Tusk said anyone calling the EU foes was spreading "fake news".

"America and the European Union are best friends".

President Donald Trump says he will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin about extraditing the 12 Russian military intelligence agents indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller on Friday for meddling in the 2016 election, adding it's something he "hadn't thought of".

A massive security operation was in place at Turnberry and Police Scotland are investigating after a paraglider flew over the area on Friday night with a sign claiming Mr Trump is "well below par". "He goes out of his way to behave in a way no other United States president would have behaved", Salonius-Pasternak told DW. "I'm not going with high expectations".

The United States will not look for "deliverables" from Monday's summit with Russian Federation, stressing that talks will be "unstructured", USA national security adviser John Bolton said on Sunday.

Relations between the press and government officials in both the US and Russian Federation have been problematic throughout the years. "So this is an attempt to see if we can defuse and take some of the drama and quite frankly some of the danger out of the relationship right now".

He described the European Union, a bloc of nation's that includes many of America's closest allies, as a "foe", particularly on trade.

These tweets today come after numerous messages from the president pondering why President Obama was not receiving more criticism for his previous actions with Russian Federation.

The 12 defendants allegedly took part in Russia's "sustained effort" to hack Democrats' emails and computer networks. "We have lots to discuss. Let's get to it".

Huntsman was interviewed on NBC's "Meet the Press", Paul appeared on CNN's "State of the Union", and Bolton and Murphy spoke on ABC's "This Week". But I could name others also. "It means that they are competitive". He has denied any collusion by his campaign with the Russians.

In fairness to Trump, and Putin, the Russia World Cup was a huge success and was relatively free of the controversies and problems many predicted might mar the tournament before it began. Officials said he spoke again with Putin as the event was ending because the Russian president was seated next to Mrs. Trump. Russia's constitution forbids the extradition of its own citizens.

Trump heads into the summit with little clear agenda other than to strengthen his personal rapport with Putin, which he thinks is crucial to improving relations between Washington and Moscow.
