Seahawks end partnership with Papa John's amid Schnatter fallout

He had stepped down as CEO past year after blaming disappointing pizza delivery sales on the outcry surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem.

So, not only does he have nearly no affiliation with the company anymore, the goal of this movement is antithetical to the actions being taken: By purchasing pizzas from the company that has fought Schnatter every time he has done something racist and offensive, conservatives are supporting the company that makes the exact argument they are professing to disdain.

Earlier this afternoon UofL president Neeli Bendapudi said she hadn't reviewed changing the name of the stadium, but I'd say that will soon happen.

He pointed out that Schnatter's type of behavior would not be tolerated from any employee at Papa John's.

Schnatter resigned as chairman of the board last week after admitting he used N-word on a conference call in May.

Papa John's is struggling to revive its business as Domino's Pizza Inc. and a resurgent Pizza Hut eat into its market share.

Major League Baseball also confirmed that it suspended indefinitely a promotion with Papa John's that offered people discounts at the pizza chain after a player hit a grand slam.

It has also been decided he will no longer be in any of the advertising or marketing materials associated with the brand. We will demonstrate that a diverse and inclusive culture exists at Papa John's through our deeds and actions, ' he adds. We will then set clear goals to do better.

The letter also outlined actions the company is taking, which include hiring consultants to audit Papa Johns' culture, diversity and inclusion practices.

Let's hope this is a positive first step for Papa John's.
