Nuggets agree to one-year deal with Isaiah Thomas

As recently as a year ago, Thomas appeared ticketed for a huge payday this summer after starring for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-2017 season and subsequent Eastern Conference playoffs, leading them to the East finals despite dealing with the death of his sister and a hip injury.

Thomas was taken by the Kings with the last pick in the 2011 draft. User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement.

Entering his eighth National Basketball Association season, Isaiah Thomas apparently will be joining a sixth team.

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas has signed a one-year $2.3 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Why Fiat Chrysler workers are furious over Juventus signing Cristiano Ronaldo
While football fans in Italy are celebrating the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo , the workers of the Fiat Chrysler plant have gone on a strike.

According to Woj, he is signing for the veteran minimum. At the very least, the Nuggets - which desperately needed another point guard behind Jamal Murray - hope that will end up being the case. Thomas gives the team another fun weapon to work with, and the Nuggets could be a good situation with which he can prove his abilities, a year removed from a season when he was getting light MVP buzz.

Thomas, 29, has been steadily progressing in rehabilitation since his early April procedure on his right hip.

For Thomas, this is unfortunate timing as he was one of the best players in the league at one point.

The veteran's minimum certainly isn't what Thomas was expecting this time previous year. After 15 games with Cleveland, he was traded to the Lakers at the deadline and played in 17 games. He accepted a bench role in Los Angeles, but his hip once again prevented him from making a real impact. As Nuggets coach Michael Malone prepared to address the media following a pre-game shootaround, Thomas strolled by and the two exchanged a knowing smile. If things go well, maybe the Brink's truck will be around next offseason.
