MS Dhoni becomes 4th Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODIs

The former Indian captain M.S. Dhoni surpassed the 10,000 ODI runs milestone during the second one-day worldwide match against England at Lords on Saturday.

Dhoni needed just 33 runs to achieve the milestone and he did it with a single in the 43rd over of the second ODI between India and England at the iconic Lord's Stadium.

Mark Wood says England will use the deciding match of the one-day series against India as a dress rehearsal for a potential knockout match when they host next year's World Cup. There was booing after every dot ball, a rare occurrence considering the huge fan base Dhoni enjoys around the cricketing globe.

Once this game is over England will turn their attention to the Test series and they face a tricky decision on whether to pick Stokes for a first match at Edgbaston that is due to finish the day before his court case on a charge of affray begins.

Kuldeep Yadav ran through England in the first ODI, at Trent Bridge...

The stumper managed to hit only two boundaries before getting out while trying to clear the ropes in the 47th over of the chase. The crowd clapped his dismissal.

"If we can treat this game as a semi-final, a must win with the pressure on, we can learn what we are doing wrong if we don't win or what we are doing right if we do".

Eng beat India by 86 runs in 2nd ODI

At the presentation, Kohli reasoned that Dhoni's plan was to ensure India did not suffer a big defeat.

However, captain Virat Kohli defended Dhoni, as he has done umpteen times. "We totally believe in him". Although he took three wickets at Lord's, he conceded 68 runs, as Joe Root scored an excellent century to anchor the innings after Morgan went against type by batting first. "You don't want to lose by 150-160 runs".

Virat Kohli said that although the start was good but the team lost the track mid-way. You have to be able to play the way they play now and try to be the next man in if a chance comes up.

"Obviously India are a quality team so maybe they'll have a game like we'll have a game plan to certain batters, they'll have a game plan for him (Stokes) and it might just take him a little bit of time to work out certain situations that try to stay away from his strengths". We all have bad days in cricket.

"It's a chance for him to prove how good he is again and he doesn't need to".

"I thought Joe was quite significant in that, his rotation of strike, his calm head and we did our basics well. And just as a batting unit we could not click".
