On the eve of the game, England manager Southgate said he hoped the team's successful run at the tournament would help unify the country after "some hard moments" in recent years - an apparent reference to Brexit.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's game in the Luzhniki, the England manager has now admitted the pain of his missed penalty meant he couldn't listen to the song for two decades.

"Our country has been though some hard moments in terms of unity and sport has the power to do that, and football in particular", he said.

All Gareth Southgate's team have to do now is see off Croatia and then beat either France or Belgium in the final.

"Football in particular has the power to do that".

Sei Young Kim targets LPGA record score
Kim and Brooke Henderson are the only players to have registered LPGA wins in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Even with an eight shot lead entering the round, Kim never let her foot off the gas pedal.

"We can feel the energy form home and that is a privilege for us". Small country similar to Holland, not big.

England, meanwhile, were tested by Colombia before comfortably dispatching of Sweden in the quarter-finals.

"The welcome of the Russian people has been top", Southgate said.

"The team is getting better and better with every game and that was the same with us in 1966 which is why I'm quietly optimistic", he said.

A 2-0 victory over Malta in October, 2016 got Southgate's reign as Sam Allardyce's successor off to the ideal start and he's since managed to guide the Three Lions to a World Cup semi-final.
