British-US trade deal possible after Brexit, say May and Trump

"I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London", Trump told the newspaper.

President Trump on Thursday blasted London Mayor Sadiq Khan as soft on terrorism and regretted that he's been made to feel "unwelcomed" in the British capital.

President Trump said his relationship with Theresa May was "very, very strong", but he did not respond to questions about his attack in the Sun newspaper on her Brexit plans.

In the piece, Trump gave May advice on how to handle the exit from the European Union and said he "would have done it much differently". "She didn't listen to me". Her Conservative government is deeply split between supporters of a clean break with the European Union and those who want to keep close ties with the bloc, Britain's biggest trading partner. "There will be no alliance more important in the years ahead", she said. And that is fine.

He claimed The Sun didn't include any of the positive things he said about Mrs May, and that he has had a chance to get to know her much better on this trip.

"There is no stronger alliance than that of our special relationship with the US and there will be no alliance more important in the years ahead", May said in a statement. I have just been hearing this over the last three days.

'Boris Johnson's a friend of mine, he's been very nice to me, very supportive and maybe I'll speak to him when I get over there. His interview likewise came after May recently announced a path forward on Brexit that met criticism from members of her own government, including Boris Johnson, who resigned as foreign secretary on Monday.

But Trump poured cold water on May's offer.

Trump, however, is the most unconventional of modern US presidents and there is some anxiety in Britain about whether he will adhere to protocol.

Trump flew into Britain on Thursday, having already subjected North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to a roasting over their levels of defence spending.

"Protests and marches and demonstration in London are not new, nor is it new to protest and march against American president", he said.

Speaking to reporters in Belgium after a fiery Nato Summit, Trump had described the United Kingdom as a "hot spot right now with a lot of resignations" and dismissed the prime minister's Chequers plan on the next stage of Brexit.

The "millions and millions of people" who are immigrating to Europe is "very, very sad", Trump said, telling The Sun that "allowing the immigration to take place in Europe is a shame".

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump's interview shows he really does like May. Moscow denies the charge, and Trump has given no indication that he intends to raise the issue with Putin.

Trump also called out NBC.

Trump arrived in Britain Thursday, and was expected to be in London before later moving to his golf resort in Scotland. He's a very people person.

Trump said that the "special relationship" - "the highest level of special" - between the two countries is "a bond that is like no other".

Khan earlier urged Londoners to keep Friday's main protest "peaceful and good-spirited", saying the message went broader than Trump.

Another wrote: "I think I can hear Dusty singing "The Look of Love". "The US has always stood by our side as a beacon for tolerance, openness and respect", he said.
