Apple releases new, faster MacBook Pro laptops

Here's the pick of the offers. The note provides quite a detailed list of upgrades for Apple tech, that should be announced at its Fall event in a few weeks time. The 2018 MacBook Pros support up to 32GB of RAM, and they're running Intel eighth-generation Core processors.

Starting at Rs 1,49,900 and Rs 1,99,900 respectively, the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro models and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar will be available in select Apple Authorised Resellers later this month.

The computer's Retina Display with True Tone delivers an unmatched viewing experience, with 500 nits of brightness and support for the P3 wide color gamut. Regarding the controversial third-generation keyboard on the new models, TechCrunch has just confirmed that it is noticeably quieter than its predecessor. And with good reason, the new keyboard design Apple introduced on its late 2016 MacBook Pro lineup has been widely derided for being frustratingly unreliable.

Both 13- and 15-inch models - with their signature Touch Bar touchscreen menu atop its keyboard - now have 8th-generation Intel Core processors, giving up to 70 and 50 per cent faster performance, respectively.

As Apple updated its website with the newest additions to the Macbook Pro family, something just as noteworthy came to light. Apple sold 19.3 million Macs in 2017, or close to the amount the iPhone maker sold in each of the three prior years. Both have more storage than before: the 15-inch model can go up to a 4 TB solid state drive, while the smaller model maxes out at 2 TB.

For quite some time now, Apple's top of the line MacBook Pro has been the source of a lot of controversy and criticism.

At least for MacBook Pro users, the wait for new products is over now, although the 2018 release of the MacBook Pro 13 and 15 might let down some Mac-fans with high-expectations.

The updated MacBook Pros come ahead of a significant product blitz for Apple.

"The 15" series features Radeon 555X or Radeon 560X discrete GPU graphic cards with 4GB of GDDR5 memory, while the 13" line sticks to the integrated GPU now with 128MB of embedded DRAM. The design of the MacBooks stays the same, which means that Apple still uses the controversial keyboard with its delicate Butterfly mechanism and Touchbar - although Apple does say that they have reduced the noise of the "3rd gen Butterfly" switches.
