Americans want Senate to move quickly on Supreme pick

US President Donald Trump is set to nominate a new conservative justice to the Supreme Court on Monday, an intensely-anticipated decision with momentous implications for America on everything from abortion to guns to immigration. He is hoping to replicate his successful announcement of Justice Neil Gorsuch a year ago.

They were aiming for Tuesday, and they won't make it: The Trump administration will miss a court-imposed deadline to reunite roughly 100 children separated from their parents under Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policy. The ad will be dispersed on national television and across a number of large digital platforms.

The battle for Senate confirmation of Trump's Supreme Court pick is likely to be one of the most intense.

For weeks, JCN has been running a different advertisement in an attempt to cut through Democrat fearmongering.

MARTIN: Who on the president's list is considered to face the toughest confirmation battle?

Casey said he opposes the process by which Trump is picking his judges, which he described as choosing from a list of 25 nominees prepared by conservative organizations such as the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society.

The White House reassigned key communications staff last week to focus exclusively on the looming Supreme Court fight. "We unite in our common belief that Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh is a good man, a brilliant jurist, and is eminently qualified to serve as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court".

Kavanaugh, 53, sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Robert Aderholt - the dean of Alabama congressmen in the lower chamber - urged the Senate to quickly confirm Kavanaugh. But his decision and status as the court's swing vote on a number of social issues left liberals anxious the court would soon become more conservative under Trump's watch.

India eye top ODI spot in series against England
Considering the start England had, with Jos Buttler and Jason Roy racing to 94/0 inside eight overs, the pressure was on India . In a knock that didn't even last half of England's innings, Roy equalled the England record for most sixes: seven.

A graduate of Yale and Yale Law, he also was a member of Kenneth Starr's independent counsel team that investigated President Bill Clinton. "Judge Kavanaugh has the qualifications that make him immensely qualified to take a seat on the highest court in the land".

NBC News reported that the Trump team was in talks with Kennedy about his replacement for months and he only felt comfortable retiring after he "received assurance that it would be Kavanaugh", per NBC reporter Geoff Bennett.

Kavanaugh ruled in one case involving abortion a year ago and is considered a likely opponent of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.

In his remarks, Kavanaugh expressed his view of a judge's role.

Macias says there is nothing to indicate that Judge Kavanaugh would be "full blown" pro-choice member of the court.

The choice could be made all the more hard for Casey if Trump nominates Thomas Hardiman, now serving as a judge on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals which covers part of Pennsylvania, and who was first appointed to serve in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh in 2003.

But his supporters note his experience and a wide range of legal opinions. Though Kennedy is a conservative, he was often a swing vote on big decisions, such as same-sex marriage, abortion and affirmative action.

The anxiety over defections speaks to the narrowness of the Republican's majority in the Senate.
