Alex Hales out of first ODI against India

Like India, the hosts' batting line-up also runs deep with the likes of Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow, Morgan and Ben Stokes. After winning the T20I series, India will eye to defeat England in ODIs as well under the captainship of Virat Kohli.

The possibility of a change at the top though is not the only matter of interest in upcoming matches since seven of the 10 teams playing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be on view during this period until August 12. He will, in all likelihood, be the missing jigsaw puzzle at the top of the order for skipper Kohli.

Currently, Rohit Sharma is the only player who has scored three hundreds in T20Is and three double-centuries in ODIs and when he was asked to rate his hundreds, he said it is hard to do so.

It will be interesting to see whether Dinesh Karthik would be selected for ODI given his current form over Suresh Raina, who was picked for T20I series despite performing below par.

If the same batting order is followed, skipper Kohli, who has been world's best ODI batsman by a distance, will have to drop himself a notch down at No 4. The first ODI will be played today at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. If the team management thinks of playing an extra pacer, Siddarth Kaul or Shardul Thakur might come into play.

While England will welcome back the previously rested Mark Wood - Jake Ball, like Hales, is expected to miss out on his home ground - and the head coach, Trevor Bayliss, will be resuming duties after a break, India's attack has been depleted by Jasprit Bumrah's finger injury and Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffering from a stiff back. England defeated Australia in the previous ODI series and also achieved the highest team score in ODIs when they scored 481/6 in the third ODI against Australian team. Buttler, whose dream run has continued since the start of the IPL, will like to continue his rich vein of form.

England captain Eoin Morgan and India captain VIrat Kohli. Kuldeep has claimed 20 wickets in his last eight ODIs while Chahal scalped 24 wickets in his last ten outings. It certainly won't be a walk in the park for India.
