'The story isn't over' - Fekir's agent gives Liverpool hope after failed transfer

Nabil Fakir came close to signing for Liverpool earlier this month with the Reds looking set to complete a deal before the World Cup kicked off.

When questioned why Fekir didn't complete a move to Merseyside, despite undergoing a medical, Bernes told French TV station LCI: "Nabil passed the medical check-up for Liverpool".

The 24-year-old's agent, though, has stated that the attacker - who is part of the France squad for the ongoing World Cup in Russian Federation - could still become a Liverpool this summer, despite a deal between the Reds and Lyon breaking down before the World Cup.

Fekir is now on worldwide duty with the French national team so any movement on a possible transfer is likely to come after France return home from the World Cup.

The France worldwide was expected to move to Merseyside ahead of the World Cup but Fekir's transfer collapsed in the eleventh hour - similar to the Reds approach for Virgil van Dijk last summer - due to a supposed problem with his knee.

In a press conference in Russian Federation today, speaking ahead of France's next match against Peru on Thursday, Fekir was asked about his situation with Liverpool. This is not the end of the story, ' said Jean-Pierre Bernes.

"My knee is super good".

The player could easily be fed up with Liverpool Football Club.

"It was great to see Jean-Michel Aulas yesterday at Istra (base camp) but we did not at all discuss my situation at Lyon".

He added: "I am with the France team, I am happy to be here". But I honestly feel like before my injury, ' said Fekir.
