Griezmann: My Future Will Be Announced Next Week

Lemar's potential transfer could have major implications for the future of compatriot Antoine Griezmann, who has been heavily linked with a move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona.

But after having previously stated that he would announce his decision before France's opening World Cup game on Saturday, Griezmann chose to keep shtum.

Atletico Madrid have reached a "preliminary agreement" to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

'Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer'.

According to Marca, Griezmann's willingness to stay was contingent on Lemar's arrival - and that move now only awaits a medical and the signing of paperwork.

The No. 28 pick could well play a role as well, and if McCaw or Looney return, they'll be expected to take on bigger roles next season.

Although the majority of reports had indicated that he would announce that he was going to stay at Atlético Madrid, Griezmann stuck to answering questions about the French national team, dodging any questions about whether he would go to Barcelona. However, those figures will revert to the previous numbers after July 1.

Sources told ESPN FC that Atletico star Antoine Griezmann worked actively to bring Lemar to the club and is excited to play with him.

However, Cadena Cope reported that Atletico are increasingly confident of getting Griezmann, who joined the club from Real Sociedad in 2014, to sign a new deal and are prepared to offer him €23m a year to stay.

For the first time in his career, the former Real Sociedad man will lead the Les Bleus' line for the first time in Russian Federation, having been a bit-part player back in 2014.
