Sonam Kapoor breaks silence on Pay Imbalance

Mumbai: The decision to change her name post marriage was criticised by many, but actor Sonam Kapoor feels it is her choice to take her husband's surname.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja got married on May 8.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding and reception was one of the biggest party of this year.

While many found the gesture incredibly romantic, others criticised her on her move, asking how it was in keeping with her feministic ideologies.

Sonam Kapoor tied her hair in a loose bun and her dramatic eye makeup made for a flawless complement to her gown which also had a yellow trail. I chose to keep both. Many actresses worked post marriage, but I am not sure that change is as evident yet. He said, "He just wore sneakers to make fun of me and he didn't want to wear formal shoes all evening so he just wore sneakers".

But true to her character, Sonam remains unfazed by their comments and says that it is her personal choice.

Anand has also updated his name on Instagram, adding an "S" before Ahuja.

Do you think Sonam Kapoor changing her surname was a feminist choice? She said, "Nobody noticed, but I'm always in London (laughs)". So it is a man's name anyway. It's a cyclical thing which needs to break somewhere.

Speaking to AP, she talked about the delay in her honeymoon and said, "Once I got engaged, I automatically started calling him "my husband", "my husband". "I've always maintained that I'm a feminist".

The actress returned to work within days of her marriage and once again made stunning appearances at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival 2018.

The Bin Roye star took to Instagram to share a picture from the session the two beauties attended together, captioned, "Have had awesome conversations over the last two days, this being the most empowering". I am there for four-five months and then, in Mumbai. I don't know if it's changed that much. "What has been happening since the last two-three years will remain", she says. Sonam added a sporty touch to her airport look as she paired a knitted crop top to go with her pant-suit.
