Oppo Realme 1 launches today on Amazon India: Livestream, expected price, specs

Enter the Chinese company's India-exclusive Realme brand, previewed a couple of weeks ago, and officially launched earlier today.

Just recently, Oppo launched a new sub-brand in India called as Realme. The e-commerce platform already has a dedicated page live for the same.

While the Realme 1 and ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 run Android 8.1 (Oreo), the Redmi Note 5 Pro is now at Android 7.1 (Nougat).

According to the Amazon page, the Realme 1 smartphone will come with a "unique diamond back design", thus making it stand out against the "generic" design that has become common in the affordable smartphone category. The smartphone has a starting price tag of Rs 8990 for the 3GB RAM variant.

The first sale of the device will be conducted on May 25, noon onwards. It is possible to extend the storage using microSD card.

The smartphone's first sale will be held at 12pm IST on May 25 on Amazon India, with only the Realme 1's 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant made available in this sale.

The device will be powered by MediaTek's Helio P60 which the company claims is the first smartphone powered by 12nm processor.

The staggering success brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus have garnered by being an online-only brand has changed the Indian smartphone landscape, with Xiaomi gobbling up 31% of the market share, while OnePlus dominates the premium tier.

One the purchase of Realme 1, SBI card holders will get an extra 5 percent cashback, Reliance Jio benefits up to Rs 4,850, free case and a screen protector. The Realme 1 comes with a 6-inch full HD+ display with 1080x2280 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone also offers Face Unlock (said to unlock the smartphone in 0.1 seconds), but it doesn't have a fingerprint sensor. It is backed by a 3,410mAh battery. The AI system understands your usage patterns and shuts down background apps in order to minimize the power consumption, thereby resulting into better performance. The Redmi Note 5, on the other hand, has a 12MP primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP secondary camera with beautify 3.0 software. Both the front as well as rear camera feature Vivid and Bokeh effects along with AR stickers. Talking about the optics, it sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and on the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The device supports Oppo's AI Beauty 2.0 feature that has 296-point facial recognition based on the gender, skin color, age and other factors.
