Liverpool considering move for Juventus icon Gianluigi Buffon?

After confirming Saturday's fixture against Verona will end his 17-year stay at the club, Buffon has refused to rule out continuing his professional career in his 40's.

English "Liverpool" is ready to provide a contract star Italian goalkeeper of Juventus Gianluigi Buffon.

He has previously hinted that he will retire at end of the season but did not disclose this on Thursday. "My own philosophy is built around that of the club and I shall continue to live my life in that way, as that's the only way I know to achieve results".

Buffon will walk away from the game as one of the most decorated footballers in history, having won 22 trophies in Italy during his spells at Parma and Juventus.

Following Italy's failure to qualify for the World Cup, though, combined with Juventus falling short in the Champions League - a competition the iconic keeper has still yet to win - he has been tipped to delay his retirement by a further year. I felt this love and fought to deserve it, and tried to do my best.

Just listening to those numbers was to appreciate the greatness of the Juve No.1 as he collected no fewer than 26 winners medals, a tally which includes a staggering 11 league titles with the Old Lady.

Buffon could bid the national team goodbye for good in a friendly on June 4 against the Netherlands at Allianz Stadium. With Wojciech Szczęsny clearly ready to replace him at club level, he had talked about continuing with the Azzurri but here it was revealed Buffon had been offered an off-field role by Juventus. In a couple of months, I'll meet with the president and we'll evaluate the situation calmly.

Buffon said he would like to take more time to reflect on his future which could be either on or off the pitch.

"I get to this point with plenty of emotions, but also with a great feeling of joy", he said.

Until about two weeks ago, I was certain I would stop playing.

Despite previously having opportunities to test his skills in other areas of the world, Buffon turned them down and admits it is a slight regret when reflecting on his career.

"I can't give Giorgio advice".
