Tensions will be high in Gaza where those killed on Monday will be buried.

The Hamas-led riots, which have occurred every Friday for the past six weeks, are reaching their apex on May 14 and 15 as the United States opens its new embassy in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.

Numerous dead and wounded in Gaza were hit by sniper-fire, the health ministry said.

The move came just hours after Israeli forces fired live ammunition, tear gas and firebombs at Palestinians protesting along the coastal enclave's fence with Israel, killing at least 55 people and wounding more than 2,700 others.

The New York Times ' use of passive voice to omit facts and avoid mentioning the perpetrators while describing the killings of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers during the Gaza demonstrations has led to worldwide outrage.

But it also marks the anniversary of the "nakba", or catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were expelled from present-day Israel during the 1948 war.

He added the U.S. had "played the wrong card at the wrong time" by opening the new embassy building.

For Palestinian-Americans, the relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is the clearest sign of where the U.S. stands in what is left of the peace process, and the fear remains that there will be more violence.

But Haley claimed Israel's response to protestors has indeed been restrained, saying "no country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has". "The Hamas terrorist organization declares it intends to destroy Israel and sends thousands to breach the border fence in order to achieve this goal", he wrote on Twitter.

Bruce: Villa were a mess after relegation
The support from the lads, the dressing room is incredible. "Let's not get too excited, there's still one more to go". Bruce said: "If I'm being brutally honest, maybe the referee got that wrong, maybe it could have been a red card".

At least 43 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces during clashes at the Gaza border Monday in the deadliest day there since the 2014 war, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced.

"I called my cousin and her son, he was shot in the leg and he was in a awful situation", said El Najjar, standing on the steps of the embassy.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's office said it was alarmed by the violence, adding "Israel security forces must exercise maximum restraint in the use of live fire".

France's President Emmanuel Macron condemned violence by the Israeli military.

In a statement he called on the global community to "protect the Palestinian people, who have chosen the path of peaceful struggle and have been confronted with brutality, violence and murder".

One of the strongest statements came from United Nations human rights chief Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein, who condemned the "shocking killing of dozens, injury of hundreds by Israeli live fire". It also accused Hamas militants of trying to carry out attacks under the cover of the protests.

The 18-member United Nations committee said it was "gravely concerned that numerous persons who died or were injured were reportedly posing no imminent threat at the time they were shot".

Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his gratitude towards United States President Donald Trump for opening the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.
