The outlet says a couple of other countries are considering a similar move.

Guatemala inaugurated its new embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday, two days after the USA opened its embassy in the disputed holy city.

The opening comes almost 30-years after the UN ordered Guatemala and 13 other nations to relocate their embassies from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv.

Morales said Guatemala was sending a message of "love, peace and fraternity" to Israel amid praise from Netanyahu. "You are the second country to recognize Israel, but you had a very important role in this".

Meanwhile, Paraguay has also announced relocating its embassy to Jerusalem, whereas Romania, the Czech Republic and Honduras are considering doing the same. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was fitting since Guatemala also followed the U.S.to be the second country to recognize Israel 70 years ago.

Morales said his country, Israel and U.S. "share friendship, courage and loyalty".

Israel regards all of the city, including the eastern sector it annexed after the 1967 conflict, as its capital.
