Former Trinidad and Tobago worldwide and England Premier League defender Jlloyd Samuel died in a auto accident this morning in England, according to a Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) report.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association announced the devastating news on their official Facebook page on Tuesday, saying he was involved in auto crash in England.

"The TTFA and all his former teammates extends deepest condolences to his family in this most hard time".

After leaving Aston Villa, Samuel went on to play for Bolton Wanderers and Cardiff City.

Villa said their players will wear black armbands for Tuesday's Championship play-off second leg against Middlesbrough.

Bolton also paid tribute to their former player via the club's social media channels.

According to reports, Jlloyd was returning home after dropping his kids off to school and collided with an oncoming vehicle in High Legh in Cheshire this morning.

Cheshire Police said they were called to a serious accident involving a van and Samuel's Range Rover at around 8am.

Samuel, who was born in San Fernando, played for Aston Villa Football Club in the United Kingdom from 1999-2007.

"His next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers".

"Our deepest condolences are with his family and friends at this hard time".

"The driver of the van, a 54-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment".

Born in Trinidad, Samuel moved to England at a young age and spent his teenage years at Charlton and West Ham before moving to Aston Villa in 1998, aged 17. May he rest in peace.

"Our deepest condolences are with his family and friends at this hard time".
