Allan McGregor rejoins Rangers on two-year deal

Rangers have already strengthen their squad for next season with the signings of Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor.

The 31-year old moved to Lazio last summer in a £5 million move that ended his 10-year stay at Anfield.

Rangers have already seen David Bates agree to join Hamburg on a free transfer this summer and with periodical doubts over Bruno Alves' future, Gerrard may need to bring in a central defender.

McGregor, who has 38 worldwide caps, moved to Hull after a year in the Turkish top flight.

He played all 46 league games as the Tigers finished 18th.

The 36-year-old Scotland global keeper was out of contract at Hull and knocked back the offer of an extension.

He added: "I started training here when I was 12 years old and it's incredible to be back".

Gerrard hopes that the prospect of a Scottish Premier League title race next season will encourage the youthful striker up North for a season. However, he spent a season in Turkey before signing for Hull City in 2013.
