PM Modi inaugurates Ayushman Bharat in Chhattisgarh on occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti

In his first comments on the gruesome incidents of rape in Unnao and Kathua, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that no criminal will be spared and daughters will get justice. Besides the launch of Ayushman Bharat, Modi also inaugurated the first phase of the Bastar Internet scheme, which connects seven tribal districts in the state's Maoist belt to the broadband internet. While launching the scheme he said, "In around 1.5 lakh villages, sub centres and primary health centres will be developed as Health and Wellness centres".

Under the scheme operated by the state's minor forest produce corporation, one person in each family of Tendu leaves collector is eligible for a pair of slippers.

The PM's visit to the state coincides with the birth anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar. It is the government's responsibility to protect your rights.

Noting that the focus has for always been on insurance, the government believes the Ayushman Bharat scheme will help people look at comprehensive, affordable, preventive and primary care.

On 5 January, Modi had asked officials to devote the coming three months in developing these backward districts.

The government aims to develop these centres by 2022. He also appealed to the people from the backward districts to join a mass movement with a different approach leveraging information technology for transformation.

It was the Prime Minister's fourth visit to Chhattisgarh, where assembly elections are due later in the year. "I have come here to say that the Centre supports your dreams, aspirations and expectations".

"I seek to remove the "backward" label from the 115 districts and call them Aspirational Districts", said the PM. If Bijapur can see development in 100 days then why can't the other districts witness the same? Modi said the government was working on a dual strategy to develop Naxal-affected regions by developing them also trying to bring back the misguided youth back into the mainstream.
