IRFU confirm Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding's contracts have been revoked

London Irish have joined Clermont Auvergne on the list of clubs who have entered into talks with Paddy Jackson, who was sacked by Ulster Rugby and the IRFU on Saturday.

It was deemed that the pair were in breach of the IRFU and Ulster Rugby's core values of the game - Respect, Inclusivity and Integrity.

The Times also understands that Exeter Chiefs and Leicester Tigers have distanced themselves from speculative stories that they were interested in signing Jackson.

A jury in Belfast found Jackson (26) and Olding (25) unanimously not guilty of rape while Jackson was also acquitted of sexual assault.

It is believed that during the internal investigation into the men's behaviour, Jackson and Olding were told a "disciplinary process" would begin and that "it was made clear that in the end, they would most likely have their contracts terminated".

"With the support of my family and friends I shall seek new challenges elsewhere".

"As I said outside court following my acquittal, I am and will always be fiercely proud of having played for my province and country".

Ulster Rugby's shirt sponsor Bank of Ireland said it was "highly concerned" about the "serious behavior and conduct issues" that emerged in the trial.

Others think that he’ll continue to use the picks himself and construct a young core that can emerge after the Cavaliers vs. Fultz is an ideal scoring guard to run alongside him, and can also take over point guard duties if the Simmons experiment fails.

"Regrettably, influences outside of my contractual arrangement have made it impossible for that to happen".

Olding said: "I said outside court that the Stuart Olding that you read about in the trial is not the real Stuart Olding".

According to the Sunday Independent, Paddy Jackson will be paid off by the IRFU, in a compromise that will see him walk way with a figure "close to his contract value", while Stuart Olding is also expected to receive a undisclosed payment.

Ulster wing Craig Gilroy has been spared the axe for by the IRFU, who have instead chosen to sanction the player over the sending of a text message.

An intense debate on Jackson and Olding's future has been played out in print and online since the verdicts.

Supporters demanding their reinstatement followed suit with their own newspaper advert this week.

A protest about the recent court case took place outside Ulster Rugby's home ground of Ravenhill on Friday as the team prepared for a PRO14 encounter with Ospreys. Guinness PRO12, Round 11, Ulster v Connacht, Kingspan Stadium, Ravenhill Park, Belfast, Co.
