Hamilton Schools superintendent resigns with $130K, no explanation from school board

The board, Board President Hertzog said, did anticipate that if the contract could be approved by the week ending April 14, they could call a special meeting to ratify the contact; the county approved it on April 3. The current policy states that children receive a different meal if they have an unpaid balance over a certain amount; however, Business Manager Kristi Werner explained the district does not follow that policy and allows students to eat the same meal as everyone else so that students aren't made to feel uncomfortable.

The draft report, approved with no dissenting votes, said while existing studies don't document a relationship between district size and educational performance, it appears smaller schools contribute to improved student performance.

A group of over a dozen high school students and several parents appeared before the School Committee at their meeting Monday to appeal for the retention of High School Principal Adam Bakr.

Beacock doesn't deny contacting councillors, but said it was done in response to Smith's email, which stated that the board is not working on a site, nor would the board engage with town officials.

"Once again, the district is looking to continue the decimation of our teaching staff", he said. "I'm very pleased with the candidates we have, especially the four finalists". Similarly, central administration is $5.47, up from $5.12 million; and security and facilities is $43.76, up from $40.1 million, according to information presented to the school board.

Astoria Superintendent Craig Hoppes, responding to audience calls Wednesday to explain the recommendation, said it's hard to schedule 90 minutes of daily reading for students at Lewis and Clark as recommended with the schedules of music teachers.

Noting their high regards, the board members recognized Charlie Harshberger for his 11-year service as a member and Bob McCarthy as Wyoming Education Association ESP of the year.

The School Board has been struggling with how to replace public school buildings that have become rundown and unhealthy. "The new agreement, which was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the MEA and school board, will provide for continued stability for the district's professional staff. Negotiations remained positive, and continual progress was made with each passing negotiating session". The Georgetown Police Department wants the district to cover the salaries of two school resource officers. John Jacob Astor Elementary School has one general music instructor, Jeanine Van De Grift.

School board members voted 7-2 to approve the budget late Wednesday night.

"That's going to give them that buy in bulk mentality", Elek said.

"This would just be to maintain, not to decrease our class sizes, but to maintain what we have been doing with those class targets", said Ben Johnson, assistant superintendent for secondary schools.

"We can do better with our on-going professional development", said Miller.

Also on Tuesday, the school board finalized changes to student start and dismissal times for next year that were previously modified in January.
