Eagles CB Daryl Worley tased, arrested, report says

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley was reportedly tased and then arrested in Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

Ian Rapoport reports that Worley was combative with Philadelphia police upon gaining consciousness and had to be subdued with the use of a taser. Former Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said the team had thoroughly explored the incident before drafting Worley in 2016.

According to Rapoport, Worley was found passed out inside his vehicle, which was blocking a highway. Worley had been a versatile starting defensive back for Carolina during his two National Football League seasons, but he won't get a chance to suit up for his hometown Eagles.

Rapoport reported that the Eagles issued a statement that said the team is "gathering more information" about his arrest.

Cornerback Daryl Worley, the Philadelphia native acquired by his hometown Eagles in a recent trade with the Carolina Panthers, may never pull on an Eagles jersey. He had 64 tackles, two interceptions in 10 pass deflections last season in Carolina.

He pleaded no contest in that case and received a six-month suspended sentence.

After Worley's release, the Eagles are still very deep at corner, with Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones, and Rasul Douglas.
