Cosby's main accuser to testify against him in sexual assault case

Bill Cosby's retrial is now underway in a Pennsylvania courtroom, where the comedian stands accused of drugging and molesting a woman at his home in 2004.

In an opening statement of close to an hour, Mesereau attacked the credibility of Constand, turning on its head the prosecution's charge that Cosby was a celebrity stalking a much younger woman for sex.

Cosby's lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau was able to start establishing a history of financial problems, which he made clear in his opening statement on Tuesday is the reason Constand sought out a relationship with Bill Cosby and ultimately falsely accused the wealthy comedian and university trustee of sexual assault.

When Jackson pushed her to report it, Constand admitted that it was a lie. She flew to St. Louis to confront Cosby, but only managed to tag along for a late night dinner.

The AP does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand and the other women have done.

She said she heard him grunting, and with that, Ms. Lasha imitated from the stand the sounds that she said Mr. Cosby had made. Asked why she had nonetheless continued the mentor-friendship, Constand called it slightly "absurd". "And Mr. Cosby said, 'I think you need to relax.' But I knew something was wrong".

"My mouth became very cottony, and I felt like foam had built up, and my mouth became very dry", she told the court. This line of questioning will likely continue on Monday.

Some 50 women have accused Cosby of molestation going back decades, and all but former friend and colleague Andrea Constand's case were too old to be prosecuted.

Then, she said: "He laid me on the bed; I could not move any more after that". She was visibly emotional and crying while on the stand, multiple outlets reported.

When she arrived in Reno, Thomas said, she was not driven to hotel, but instead was taken to a sprawling estate where Cosby was staying.

"I'm sure that's what many people would say", said Thomas, who insisted she did not earn money from sharing her story and giving an interview. Cosby also invited her to his shows and meetings in New York City and CT.

On Thursday, it was Dickinson's turn to tell jurors that Cosby had taken advantage of her after knocking her out with drugs. She said she wanted to recount the trip for her mother and agent but destroyed it years later after seeing a psychiatrist. Plus, Mesereau said with an air of nonchalance, Cosby was merely trying to rid himself of a "nuisance".

But those efforts went nowhere, Mesereau said, and Constand left Temple, returning to Canada broke and unemployed.

"You are going to be asking yourself during this trial". Again, Constand said no. She dabbled with modeling and aspired to enter the entertainment industry, Mesereau said.

"This was a paltry sum to him to avoid all this", Mesereau said.

Andrea Constand took the stand at his sexual assault retrial Friday. We weren't discussing my career.

She said she prayed in her auto in the parking lot, and told her guidance counselor and her sister what had happened.

She described feeling nervous about the big change and said she accepted the pills thinking they were an "herbal" remedy for stress.

"These are your friends".

She recalled Cosby allegedly telling her that the pill would "help break up the cold" and urging her to drink a second shot of Amaretto.

Another accuser, Janice Baker-Kinney, said Cosby drugged and raped her in Reno, Nevada, in 1982, when she was 24.

She said she couldn't speak and couldn't get her limbs to move.

Constand said she awoke between 4 and 5 a.m.to find her bra up around her neck and her trousers half unzipped.

Back in June, a jury spent four days deliberating and couldn't come to an agreement about Cosby's guilt regarding the alleged assault of Constand. The Canadian massage therapist has been alleging publicly since she first went to police in 2005 that the comic drugged and molested her at his mansion in the Philadelphia suburbs.
