Kevin Harvick wins third straight NASCAR race

Kevin Harvick wins third straight NASCAR race

Wickens went off course, Rossi slid back to third and Bourdais sailed by for the 37th victory of his career. He's banging on that rear glass.

Late race pit strategy saw Chase Elliott briefly hold position over Harvick, but Harvick motored his way around the 9 vehicle and to the lead with 23 laps remaining.

"I could tell that myself and Kyle and Denny were going to be the top three", said Bakersfield native Harvick.

- Are you jealous a little bit of that swagger?

Look, I can be as critical as anyone, especially concerning the mile and a half abominations, but Sunday was awesome. He's my hero. And being a fellow Ford teammate, he's- no. There's no way in today's NASCAR you can "cheat" three races in a row and get away with it. Let's be clear that at any given race, there's plenty of pushing the envelope and coloring outside the lines. Most prognosticators would have had Harvick winning multiple races and making a deep run in the playoffs - likely all the way to the final four - prior to the season so I'm not sure three straight wins really changes much. Because he is so mentally tough. Whether it was confronting a veteran like Ricky Rudd (2003 at Richmond), getting physical with Carl Edwards (2008 at Charlotte), or instigating the Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon melee (2014, Texas), you can always count on him for a good quote and a headline. I mean, is he the top dog in terms of mental strength? That's why I think this week's race may give them the opportunity to bounce back this season. The 78 isn't on top of its game, but it's not far off. And you know, when he was pointing to that back window and that roof, that was not anything toward NASCAR.

- Absolutely. And you know, right now, to me, this was a state of race yesterday. It's not the reason he won that race. "But we've won races on pit road, too". But we'll show you. "I guess we probably can't afford to run any support races here that cost the track some money".

The production plan is an update on the original plan called "Roadmap E" announced past year . The company has already repaid billions in costs and fines for dodging emission level tests.

- So all that happens last Wednesday, when the penalties come out. Just remember what Earnhardt said, whether they're booing or cheering, you have their attention. So this is all done now and behind us.

Last week, I opined that the penalties levied against Kevin Harvick and his team wouldn't have much bearing on his season, I'd say we would be wise not to go engraving the Cup trophy just yet. "Everybody hasn't really been home [given the West Coast swing], to work on their stuff, so there's still a lot to do and a lot to see".

At the end of the day while fans can post pictures on social media and red flag showing what they view to be potential infractions, it shouldn't be expected that race control will actually base a decision off of it. That- that's a lot of his leadership, is the confidence that he brings to that race team. And he's just a true racer. "And to take that away from those guys just really pissed me off last week". And that's why he- he addressed it and then came out with a statement like that.

Add to that more miles under the hood of the new Chevy Camaro in the coming weeks, which will certainly see the vehicle become more competitive, so there's every reason to think that Harvick can be caught.

In addition to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Can-Am 500 on Sunday, Nov. 11, the weekend will also feature the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 on Friday, Nov. 9 and the NASCAR Xfinity Series 200 on Saturday, Nov. 10. He cares about this sport and the direction that this sport is going in.

"I'd love to go out there and have a chance to win the race, but my goal is to draw enough attention to get kids' dads and competitors excited about racing in the K&N Series".
