Gentry fined $15K for ripping officiating after…

New Orleans Pelicans' head coach Alvin Gentry has had enough when it comes to National Basketball Association officiating, saying that "all we want is an equal opportunity to win the game".

Following their loss Saturday night, the New Orleans Pelicans head coach would get some things off his chest.

"The thing that bothers me more than anything, and I really don't care, is that we try to play the right way and we play our ass off, and then what happens to us is that AD never gets a call. But all I want to do is have an equal opportunity to win the game".

Gentry was referring to the foul called on Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday while James Harden was shooting a 3 from the corner in a seven-point game with 5:39 to play in the fourth quarter. Gentry, who claimed he saw Harden wink after the foul was called, was assessed a technical as he demonstratively walked away from official David Guthrie and sat on the bench.

Gentry received a technical for arguing the play, something he also disagrees with, given that he was rung up as he walked away.

Polls open across Russian Federation
Earlier on Sunday, the polling stations opened in Moscow and across central Russian Federation for the presidential elections. Voters who took selfies at polling stations could enter a raffle for high-end electronics, including an iPhone X.

As has been written in this space before, a few calls down the stretch of a game were not the reason any one team lost.

"(The Blazers) held and grabbed on every play and they got away with fouls all over the place", Van Gundy said, via the Detroit News' Rod Beard. He never gets the call. Not one. You know why? Holiday appeared to miss the free throw on objective in hopes of capturing a long rebound, but Paul foiled that plan by darting in front of the Pelicans guard to give Houston possession and force New Orleans to foul him. Because he doesn't bitch and complain about it.

But at the same time, he has been around long enough to understand that referees don't play or coach the games. "You can't guess on a foul". That's not right. That's not the way you do it.

Gentry joins a long list of players, coaches and fans who have long complained about the quality of officiating and the apparent unbalanced system now in place.
