Donald Trump wages tweet war over Russian Federation investigation

Mueller reports to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, an ex-U.S. attorney under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama who was named to the Justice Department post by Trump.

Earlier Sunday, Trump criticized Comey, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director until the president fired him in May.

Trump, whose Sunday tweets started shortly after 8 a.m. disputed McCabe's statement.

John Dowd, Trump's personal lawyer, said Saturday the time had come for special counsel Robber Mueller to end the Russian Federation investigation.

"It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign".

The president's latest tweet drew warnings from fellow Republicans about interfering with the Mueller investigation. Committee Democrats vehemently disagreed.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-South Carolina, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, appeared on "Fox News Sunday" to address Mr. Trump personally. "Russia attacked our country".

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, left, is widely respected on both sides of American politics. "I think the president's attorney, frankly, does him a disservice when he says that and when he frames the investigation that way", Gowdy said.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican and an informal adviser to Trump, said it would be inappropriate for the president to try to fire Mueller.

Mr Trump had warned last July that if Mr Mueller broadened his inquiry to include the finances of the Trump Organisation, it would be a "violation". "That is unacceptable in a democracy", Durbin said. "That is unacceptable in a democracy".

Trump's lawyer Ty Cobb however told CNN's Gloria Borger on Sunday night that nothing had changed in the White House's attitude to the special counsel. He departed the residence shortly before 10 a.m., heading to the Trump National Golf Club in Northern Virginia.

DiGenova said FBI lovers texts between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa page showed the FBI'conspired to violate the law and deny Donald Trump his civil rights

There remains no clarity on the administration's strategy heading into the President's planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un which the White House has said will take place as soon as May.

And The Associated Press has learned that Andrew McCabe kept personal memos detailing interactions with President Donald Trump, and that those memos have been provided to special counsel Robert Mueller's office.

Trump tweeted Sunday: "Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me". "I believe when it comes to this issue, we need as much transparency as possible, to make sure that it was not politically motivated". And is this because they corroborate James Comey?

United States media say the memos will support Mr Comey's account of the circumstances of his dismissal last May.

"This is a serious investigation, and if the president tries to terminate it prematurely, I think it will be a true constitutional crisis", he said on CBS.Trump also drew criticism from fellow Republicans on Sunday over the firing of McCabe, who said he believed he was targeted because he corroborated Comey's claims that Trump tried to pressure Comey into killing the Russian Federation probe.

Aides and friends say they understand Trump's frustration with an investigation that hangs over his presidency.

The president wrote: "Wow, watch Comey lie under oath to Senator G when asked 'have you ever been an anonymous source ... or known someone else to be an anonymous source ...?' He said strongly 'never, no.' He lied as shown clearly on foxandfriends".

His former boss James Comey, who Trump fired previous year, has testified that he kept similar notes.

McCabe was sacked just two days before he was set to retire.

"I think that people see that as a massive red line that can't be crossed", Arizona Sen.
