Browns sign Carlos Hyde

Browns sign Carlos Hyde

Once that signing becomes official, it could mean Cleveland will look to a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and potentially pass on drafting Barkley. The earlier offseason addition of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback along with the Hyde signing makes it seem like the Browns are committed to running the kind of zone read, run-option offense that best fits Taylor's style. Johnson is one of the better receiving backs in the league while Hyde could flourish behind the Browns strong offensive line. The 27-year old running back played all 16 games for the 49ers last season for the first time in his career. A few hours later, Adam Schefter reported that the 49ers have agreed to terms with former Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon on a four-year deal worth $30 million.

The Browns have the first and fourth picks in the draft and are expected to take a quarterback with one of the picks.

The New York Giants will still stand between the Colts and Barkley. Browns general manager John Dorsey traded for Mitchell when he was the Chiefs' GM.

And as part of the Niners' Hyde replacement plan, former Minnesota Viking Jerick McKinnon is headed west on a four-year pact, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. In four seasons with San Francisco, Hyde rushed for 2,729 yards while averaging 4.17 yards per carry with 21 rushing scores. Just past year with Kansas City, he selected Kareem Hunt in the third round and the speedy Hunt rushed for 1,327 yards as a rookie. The closest he came was 988 in 2016 when he missed three games with various injuries.

Recent reports have suggested that Cleveland could be on the verge of adding another playmaker to their roster, as according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, free agent Carlos Hyde will be joining the team once free agency opens. Hyde also has 109 catches for 634 yards and three TDs.
