After repeated warnings Facebook bans Britain First for 'inciting hatred'

Facebook decided that content posted to its page by Britain First leaders Paul Golding and Jayda Fransen has repeatedly broken those rules, and when that content continued to be posted after a final warning the social network took action.

Golding previously urged supporters to continue following the group on other social networks following its Twitter ban in December.

The company has not revealed exactly which posts were in violation of its policy, nor said anything about the precise nature of their content.

The decision comes in the wake of jail sentences handed to both the group's leader, Paul Golding, and deputy leader, Jayda Fransen. Facebook has not returned a request for comment about whether it plans to take down the page.

Once again, Facebook joins Twitter and YouTube in the fight to moderate and prevent the spread of extremist content.

Buhari Says Missing Nigerian Girls Will Be Rescued
The movement sought to know the circumstances in which the Dapchi schoolgirls were abducted. Be assured that measures are being put in place to achieve these objectives", he said.

"Britain First is a vile and hate-fueled group", Khan said in a statement. As reported by the Telegraph, the group had become one of the largest United Kingdom political parties on Facebook. They had over 2 million likes - more than any other political party in the UK. It's already outlined what constitutes hate speech in great detail, and its community standards specifically prohibit it.

Again, some commenters on the post echo Collet's thoughts.

Last year, the company indicated it was removing around 66,000 posts related to hate speech each week. This came after it was claimed students had tried to ban Peter Tatchell and Germaine Greer from speaking at their student unions. This approach somewhat contradicts the words of Theresa May in parliament today.

The ban seems to be an indication of Facebook caving to increasing pressure from politicians and the media to step up its efforts to curb hate speech.

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg told a Brussels audience in January that the US company promised "to do better" to boost privacy, stem the spread of hate speech and clamp down on the abuse of the social network to influence votes. Facebook acknowledged it faces a balancing act in deleting politically charged posts, saying in a blog about its decision: "Some political opinions might be controversial, but it is important that different views can be shared and we are very careful not to remove posts or Pages just because some people don't like them".
