Roma end interest in Blind as United rule out loan deal

Sky Italia claimed on Tuesday that United had offered the defender to Roma, with the 27-year-old interested in the move.

According to reporting from DiMarzio earlier today, Dutch defender Daley Blind is negotiating a move to AS Roma.

Gene Sweeney Jr/Getty ImagesRoma and Manchester United are reportedly in the advanced stages of a deal that would bring Dutch worldwide Daley Blind to the Italian capital.

The Dutchman has slipped to third choice at left back, and down to sixth choice at centre back this season, making just five appearances in the Premier League this season.

"The group is very united and they want him to stay". I can confirm that Roma want him, but Manchester United don't want to loan him out and only want a permanent solution.

Pence Avoids 'Interaction' with North Korean Officials at Olympics
North Korean state media said Thursday there was no intention on the North Korean side for such talks to take place. During their meeting President Moon was pictured smiling and shaking hands with Kim Yo Jong.

It is said the Red Devils will then likely trigger the one-year extension in Blind's deal and look to sell him for an increased amount next summer instead.

The Dutchman has played in all of Manchester United's UEFA Champions League matches this season - and hence will be ineligible for the Romans in that competition if he does make the switch.

Jose Mourinho will not want to lose a player who may prove crucial to United's season, especially with so little time left of the window to find a replacement.

Blind has been heavily linked with a move to Italy this week after falling out of favour under United boss Jose Mourinho. "Maybe if we had a few days, a week perhaps [a deal would be possible], but we've only got a few hours, so it's really very hard".

And it is understood that the player is keen on securing a move away from Old Trafford in search of regular football.
