Refreshed Mikaela Shiffrin eyeing more success at Pyeongchang Games

Shiffrin knew it was time for a bit of a break when she went off-course with only a handful of gates left in a slalom at Lenzerheide, Switzerland, on january 28.

After winning gold in Sochi, Shiffrin shared her dream of winning five golds - that would mean victories in slalom, giant slalom, super-G, downhill and alpine combined - at her next Olympics. Three world championships in the slalom, medals that hang in her room back home in Colorado because, she said, "I had dead space on my wall and I wanted to fill it with something, and they look pretty". She was the slalom gold medalist at the 2014 Sochi Games, where she also finished fifth in the giant slalom. Twenty-three or something. I can't imagine myself being mentioned in the same sentence as... When I get mentally exhausted, I just get more emotional. "The giant slalom is the most competitive for the women", says Rebensburg, with only Italian Deborah Compagnoni having previously won two golds (1994, 1998).

"We had a tonne of races all back-to-back, I was rested and had great training and preparation going into that so I was able to carry my momentum through that whole stretch", she said. "So that's what I did".

"I've gotten back to my roots in skiing and reminded myself I'm not here just for wins but I'm here because I love the sport", she said.

"I'm feeling good", she said.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinisten left his company amid allegations of sexual misconduct - which he has denied. These female employees were supposed to help his company produce films and television projects.

She will be the overwhelming favorite in slalom Tuesday night, but she must be considered a solid medal contender in GS.

"I would like to compete in everything", she said.

"But I'm not actually sure whether I'll have the energy to do (all) that", she said. "OK, he has, what, 23 medals?"

Shiffrin has one medal so far. Amid her preparation for as many as five events, the Colorado native has been busy downplaying comparisons to record-setting, medal-hoarding USA swimmer Michael Phelps.

"It's extremely flattering but it's apples and oranges".
