Qatar Airways receives first A350-1000 order from Airbus

Rolls-Royce is confident that its Trent XWB powerplant for the Airbus A350 will not be afflicted by similar technical problems which have emerged on the Trent 1000.

European aviation manufacturer Airbus delivered its first A350-1000, a wide body airliner equipped with powerful Rolls Royce engines, to Qatar Airways on Tuesday during a ceremony in Toulouse, according to a statement from Airbus. In a press release, the national carrier of Qatar is said to be the first airline to fly the latest member of the Airbus wide-body aircraft portfolio, which is scheduled go into service on the Doha-London route this month. The first aircraft fully-fitted with Qsuite was launched on the Doha-London route last summer on the B777, and was soon followed by service to Paris and NY, with service to Washington, D.C. launched most recently last month. "This remarkable state-of-the-art aircraft will become a firm part of Qatar Airways fleet and will keep us ahead of the curve".

The A350-1000 is 7 metres (23 feet) longer than the -900.

Qatar is the launch customer for both the A350-1000 and the smaller -900 aircraft, with current orders for 37 -1000s and 39 -900s. It is created to seat up to 366 people in a two-class layout, against the -900's 325 seat capacity. Bringing major advantages in fuel and cost efficiency along with unmatched passenger comfort, the A350-1000 is the ideal aircraft to showcase Qatar Airways' legendary customer service.
