Former Samsung CTO To Lead Google IoT Business

Injong Rhee, the previous chief technology officer at Samsung, declared that he was employed at Alphabet Inc's Google to coordinate Internet of Things projects.

Injong Rhee has joined Google as entrepreneur-in-residence to lead the search giant's IoT business, according to a statement posted on LinkedIn by Rhee. Last year, Google introduced a service called Google Cloud IoT Core to help companies connect IoT devices to Google Cloud, manage them centrally and integrate them with Google's analytics services.

While this is certainly a positive move for Google, a company seemingly on a never-ending quest to diversify, it is less promising for Samsung.

If you don't like it, blame him for not taking his new job seriously enough to demand serious professionals in important roles. Manigualt Newman reportedly used it as an office pickup and drop-off service, which is forbidden by the federal government.

Rhee will also be responsible for creating distinct consumer and enterprise product lines, with the goal of making Google IoT "sustainable and profitable". "My new job has nothing to do with smartphones and Samsung", he added. "More people use Bixby". He's known for his achievements in developing the Knox enterprise security platform and payments platform Samsung Pay, as well as a long hairstyle that's famous in its own right. Eventually, he was made the head of Samsung's R&D team 1, which worked on software and services. Nest will join forces with Google's hardware team instead of being an offshoot division. Such is the minimal differentiation which we are seeing in the devices market.

Apple's push into AI at the chip level with this year's A11 Bionic chip got the leap on Google and in return Google hired away one of Apple's key chip architects Manu Gulati. Will Samsung miss having Rhee around?
